Face-to-Face Psychotherapy with Donald C. Bliss, LCSW
While continuing to provide online services, I am also re-opening a private practice office in San Francisco, California. Because my travel often takes me out of town for up to a month at a time, my focus will be on providing services to clients who are able to tolerate breaks in the psychotherapy every few months, and those who prefer to work on immediate issues and not necessarily pursue longer-term psychotherapy (brief, solution-focused counseling, in other words).
Unlike most psychotherapists, I will meet with clients for single face-to-face sessions, or for occasional sessions from time to time, and do not necessarily limit the session to 50 minutes - just like through my online psychotherapy. I have seen the value of that mode of working, and as a result have decided to offer it on a face-to-face basis as well.
Other important news:
My weekly PsychotheraBlog will also begin publishing shortly. I welcome your submission of topics and issues on which you would like to hear my thoughts and perspectives. Feel free to submit ideas now on the Contact page.
PLEASE NOTE: the listing of events here which are not directly associated with Donald C. Bliss, LCSW, is not intended to imply endorsement on my part but rather to provide a community service. I do not list events or services unless I have direct or indirect experience with the service provider and have confidence in their competence and professionalism.
Dr. Terrlyn Curry Avery has been scheduled as the regular cohost of the webcast.
Dr. Curry Avery is a licensed psychologist who recently left the staff of an inner city public high school in Connecticut to work as a consultant as she completes yet another post-graduate degree. She previously worked for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families in two locked facilities, one for psychiatrically impaired youth and the other for adjudicated adolescents.
Dr. Curry Avery is in demand as a speaker and presenter, conducting seminars with groups, institutions, service providers, parents, and faith-based organizations. Her additional specialties include women's issues and anti-racism work.
She holds a PhD in Clinical/School Psychology from Hofstra University, an MS in Psychology from American University of Washington, DC, and a BS in Psychology from Howard University. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Yale University.
